Mission Statement
The Pueblo Hispanic Education Foundation provides scholarships for higher education to Hispanics, other minorities and low-to-moderate income students from Pueblo and Southern Colorado to assist them in achieving lifelong success.
Please complete all necessary information in this application packet and return to our office or post date mailing no later than March 29, 2010, 5:00 p.m. For the CU System applicants, the due date is March 1, 2010.
Please review the following list of guidelines before proceeding with the application. The selection process for all potential scholarship applicants is as follows:
1. All existing recipients must re-apply. It is the student’s responsibility to update PHEF with the required criteria of the scholarship. If you are an existing PHEF scholarship recipient and have met all the requirements/criteria for the PHEF scholarship for the upcoming year, you are still required to fill out, sign and return all the documents in the scholarship application packet.
2. All scholarship amounts awarded are based strictly on funds available.
3. All applicants will be notified of the status of the application (scholarship recipient or regrets).
The Foundation wishes you luck with your educational endeavors and we look forward to helping you achieve your educational goals.
Our selection is based primarily on financial need, proven ability, grade point average (GPA), community/volunteer service and educational desire. Applicants must be enrolled in at least twelve (12) credit hours to be considered for the Horisons Scholarship and at least six (6) hours for the GRAD scholarship. There will be 80 scholarships awarded on the above and below criteria:
• You must be a resident of the state of Colorado
• You must maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA for first-time college freshmen, a 3.0 Cumulative GPA for continuing students
• CU System applicants are subject to CU GPA requirements
• Scholarship funds to be used for fall and spring semesters. Scholarship funds are not available for summer classes.
